The Color of Autism Foundation marks April as National Autism Awareness month, but more specifically for the past 5 years they have recognized April 2nd as National Autism Day. In honor of the day they ask people to wear blue to raise awareness. This disease is growing at a rapid pace and they now speculate about 1 in every 88 children have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The largest increases are found in African-American and Hispanic children.
Camille Proctor founded The Color of Autism Foundation in 2009 based and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. The main goal of the organization is to help families identify warning signs of autism early on.
